This book, as far as I am able to tell from internet gleanings (I’ve not seen it at the time of writing), is a revised and expanded (修订、增补) version of Zhen Liu’s PhD dissertation on a unique Sanskrit manuscript of the Kāyabhāvanāsūtra 《修身经》 of the Dīrghāgama submitted to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.

Further information can be found in this startlingly rich Chinese writeup by an editor at a Chinese publishing house:

  1. Great pick up I.S.!

I was wondering when this thesis would be published. It is a shame that Gudrun Melzer’s thesis on another part of the DA has remained unpublished to date. As you know, short of contacting the author’s personally it is almost impossible to obtain German theses in Australia.

Regardless, I have just ordered LIU’s monograph so I will let you know how bad the typos actually are when it arrives!

    1. According to Liu, quite a lot of the Sanskrit Dīrghāgama has already been formally studied and edited. Although very little of this work has been published so far, a reader kindly informs me that plans to publish it are well advanced.
